Nearly completed, this true haunting story of one of the most historical homes on Cape Cod will soon be available. Built in 1713 at Scituate, Massachusetts, just a few miles south of Boston by the famous Paine family, it was barged to Barnstable across the Cape Cod Bay to its final resting place on the historic and scenic Kings Highway (Route 6A). Sounds pretty simple ah! Well, think again! This tale begins with the cutting down of a large tree in the Scituate forest to build this house. It is sometimes narrated by this tree (fictional). After many years of research, this author has put together a genealogy of sorts of the owners, history and its ghosts.Firsthand accounts and eye witnesses have beenquoted including a first encounter of the ghost kind by this author with the help of the Psychic who helped me during my research and discovery of Benjamin Bonnell’s ghost in my first book, “Thunder Over New England.”
Some events in this book are sad with the tragedy of poor “Little Lucy” in the “Well” in the cellar, the hanging of Edmund Howes, the tragic life of Doctor Samuel Savage. It is said that Herman Millville wrote some chapters to Moby Dick upstairs. Many other spirits who haunt the hallways fill this book with mystery and wonder. The 1985 night before Halloween party that revealed “Little Lucy,” and her sweet mysterious greeting years later will make you stand back and gasp. Published by Heritage Books, 2003. ISNB 1-58549-859-9. 124 pages. $26.50 (US). Shipping included in above price. Add $1.50 for each additional item
